Matthew 6:24
24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.
Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:24 that we cannot both God and money. You will find yourself hating the things of God and loving money.
Many people spend a lifetime striving to gain more and more money. When money is your god, you will spend your time working for it, you will sacrifice your family for it, you will ultimately sacrifice yourself for it.
We all need to make a living but when we make money the motive for what we do, we have made money our God.
In Matthew 6:33 we have the key to making sure that money is not our God. Jesus says -“33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
What are you seeking today? Are you seeking the kingdom of God above ALL else?
Are living a life (righteously) pleasing to God?
If your motivation for the things that you do is money or related to money, it may be a good time to ask God to show you how to live for Him.
It all starts with a relationship with Jesus. Do you know Jesus? He knows you and He wants to have a relationship with you.
You can ask Him for forgiveness right now. When I asked Jesus to save me from my sin I prayed a prayer similar to the one listed below. You too can find freedom from being enslaved to money and enslaved to sin. Jesus offers the forgiveness of your sin.
Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe you died for my sins. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and life to you. I believe that you are my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me. Amen.
If you just prayed that prayer and meant it, Jesus Christ has now taken residence in your heart! Your decision to follow Christ means God has forgiven you, and you will spend eternity in Heaven. The Bible tells us, “But if we confess our sins to Him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness” (1 John 1:9).
If you prayed that prayer today and asked Jesus into your life, I would like to know and pray for you as you begin your new life in Christ.
Because He Lives,
Pastor Steve
