Learning to Pray…… (For others)

September 3, 2023

  • Scriptures

Today we faced some technical difficulties (loss of internet during service) that caused a large portion of the service on video to be lost.

I am including scriptures that were covered and an outline of today’s sermon here:

Most of us are experts on praying for our own needs, wants and desires.  But how are we when someone asks us to pray for them.

Do you tell them that you will pray for them and just forget about it?

Do you pray for them at all?

God wants us as to pray for one another.  Not just out of obligation but because we really desire and want to pray for others.

A good prayer life focuses not only our own needs but the needs of others.  Ephesians 1:15-23  gives us an account from Paul praying for others.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 also gives us advice on developing a heart for prayer.

  1.  Don’t stop thanking God for one another
  2. Thankfulness for others will help us grow in our bond through Jesus Christ and will give us a genuine concern for the needs of others.
  3. Do NOT STOP praying
  4. Be joyful
  5. Be thankful in ALL circumstances!

It is ok to ask God why whenever we feel as if He is not answering your prayers.

God is not offended when we ask why.  He is actually filled with joy when we trust in Him even when He chooses not to explain.

Don’t know how to pray for others?  Try this.

  1.  ask God to give the one you are praying for spiritual wisdom and insight so they may grow in their knowledge of God
  2. ask God to fill their hearts so that they can understand the confident hope that he has given to those who are called.
  3. ask God to grant understanding of the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him.

As a follower of Jesus Christ you have access to the very power of Almighty God.  You can ask the God of all creation to intervene in someone’s life or situation.

Jesus Christ is the key.

Access to God the Father to have a remarkable prayer life is only found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Have you asked Jesus to forgive you of your sins?

Ask Him today for forgiveness and the God of all mercy will forgive your sins as you begin your walk with Christ.
